JQ99.3, Habitat For Humanity of Kent County, DeGraaf Interiors, Vredevoogd-Brummel Insurance, Gerrit's Appliance, and City 2 Shore Real Estate invite ALL JQ99.3 Women (and men) to be part of our upcoming Women Build!
First lets cover the broader details of this invitation!
What is a Women Build?
A Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program, whose mission is to recruit, educate, and nuture women to build - and advocate for - simply, decent, and affordable houses in their communities.
Why a Women Build?
A Women Build challenges women to actively address the problem of substandard housing and to be part of the solution. The program empowers women by encouraging them to take the lead in construction, teaching them new skills, and allowing them to help other women become homeowners.
Does a Women Build exclude men?
A Women Build does not exclude anyone. It's about including women and opening doors of opportunity.
What is Habitat for Humanity of Kent County's next Women Build project?
This year it's a remodel! Elvira, a mother of four sons ages; 13, 11, 9, and 5, has worked at Habitat Kent's ReStore for 8 years. The family currently lives in a poorly insulated rental home. Each winter, two of Elvira's sons are displaced from their basement bedrooms because the rooms are too cold for safe sleeping. As a result, the entire family crams into the main floor bedrooms. Elvira is looking forward to having a well-insulated home that is comfortable for her family no matter the season.
Next lets cover the finer details!
JQ99.3's goal is to sign up 10-15 listeners for each of the build dates. Those dates are:
Saturday, October 25th
(Minimum age requirement; 14)
Wednesday, December 10th

You can do half days, but no more than 5 people per build please.
